Desert Night

The desert night offers such reprieve from the summer heat

Rest upon the cool grass and breathe in the quiet peace

Take in the setting sun and relax

The dusty blue sky will gift you silent lullabies.

She sits up high, those amber ancient knowing eyes

I hear her lofty echoing cries

While across the white sparkling sky,  shadows of bats interrupt my lazy gaze

They dive and play while mother owl watches in restful tides.

Way out far the yelps of friendly coyotes call

When dinner is found, another night animal has a certain death

Yesterdays matter not, but today's evening does

Another calm oneness with nature washes through my soul

Another night unearthed and ready.

The moon shines above the trees

Projecting a pattern of light reminiscent of yesterday

Downed branches emulate a home hidden from sight deterring tonight's meal

A night like this blames the day for a long nap

A night like tonight begs for a loving embrace.

I can now achieve goals that never seemed possible.  My mission is to help other non-speakers become free from silence. I love spelling and I love to hear stories about spellers.
